I’ll tell you the Chad News First
Happy Juneteenth. I hope all of you got a day off. Or that you got a chance to enjoy some aspect of the holiday however you see fit.
I got a day off, and I needed it. I had a funeral to attend on Saturday and TMJ since late last week. A day off from clinic is working wonders for me. I still hope to get some medication for my jaw on Friday so I can get off my cocktail of Excedrin and Advil. Actually, I have generic ibuprofen. Does that make it a mocktail?
I did yard work for all of fifteen minutes, watering our hydrangea plants so they don’t perish in the sweltering sun. Found a heart shaped leaf right on top of one. I found my photo for this newsletter during my only time outside. That feels pretty special.
My June has been pretty bad. And summer starts tomorrow. I’m hoping for the final week to be good. I'll Pete Rose a motherfucker at home base to do it.
Stone Soup Poetry
Last week was an open mic. I wasn’t able to get the Stone Soup crouton done. Hopefully tomorrow.
This week is another open mic. I hope to close out with a feature next week.
Oddball Magazine
Click here to read poetry by Sandra Wyllie, John Grey and Kai Jensen with great visual art by Jennifer Matthews, Edward S. Gault and Ira Joel Haber. Not to mention Steven David Justin Sills’ latest chapter in his treatise on ethics with a brand new illustration by Richard Spisak.
No Geoffrey Fallon comic this week. “The Secrets of Skinny People” will return. Anne Skove’s “She Who Laughs Lasts” came through as did returning Comics Spotlight contributor Andrew Newall.
Jason Wright’s Jagged Thought poem column came through on Tuesday. Thursday and Friday will give us James Van Looy (It’s All One Thing), Janet Cormier (Bamboozled No More!) and Bruce Wise (Wise Words). And our Pride features continue. Last week’s pride feature was poet Maya Collins and artist Janis Butler Holm.
