Chad Parenteau's Lost Causes, 3-27-24
Here's a dog picture to distract you from my lack of work
I’ll tell you the Chad News First
Doing a lot better than last week. Finally got a piece out on my Medium. Another coming soon if things don’t get completely screwed up again. Maybe another one on Substack but not before this newsletter has to go out.
I’m writing and submitting again after taking a break for a couple of weeks. I see a few writers my age on social media struggling like this.
It’s the twenty-first century. Any time taken for creative pursuits have to be fight for.
Older artists, keep fighting. Younger artists, start fighting now because it’s likely no one you know or even love will support your efforts unless (maybe) they know how much it means to you.
In advance, Happy National Poetry Writing Month and National Poetry Writing Month.
On with the newsletter.
Stone Soup Poetry
Last week’s open mic was relaxing. Read the latest Stone Soup Croutons poem, “Who’s Your Trinidaddy?”
Linda Carney Goodrich features tonight. Be in our virtual audience tonight and be back next week for Rich Boucher.
Oddball Magazine
Click here to read poetry by Lynn White, Heather Pease and Penelope Scambly Schott. Check out the amazing visual art by Bill Wolak, Edward S. Gault and Jennifer Matthews. You can also read the final (so far?) Canto from Steven David Justin Sills with artwork by Sketchman Boris. Props to cartoonists Geoffrey Fallon (“The Secrets of Skinny People”), Anne Skove (“She Who Laughs Lasts”) and Mike Salva for his latest Comics Spotlight entry.
Jason Wrights started our poet columnists off strong with his weekly Jagged Thought. On Thursday we’ll have James Van Looy (It’s All One Thing), Janet Cormier (Bamboozled No More! ) and Bruce Wise (Wise Words). Maybe I can fit in a surprise for Good Friday.
Sunday Photo Becomes Monday Poem
"Staying Power" is my latest From Picture to Page poem, up on my Patreon for paid subscribers.
Hail Hans!
Here's my latest Chad Wants to know interview as I catch up with cartoonist Hans Rickheit. Read it now on Medium.
Back at the Monster
My Comic Book Haiku on Ultimate X-Men #1 is up now at The Ugly Monster.
Miscellaneous
Check out my website and get a lot of the news before it winds up in this email. Also includes links to my other social media.
Check my blog out for exclusive content and poetry news not related to Stone Soup.
More going up on Medium tomorrow. Another Chad Wants to Know is in the works.
Made some very short TikTok videos about a Nazi cartoonist and the X-Men ‘97 controversy. More longer form work coming. I finally figured out how to make it work.
Some more updates coming Patreon before the weekend.
Thanks for reading down this far.
Chad
Hope you're doing better, Chad? The dog-picture is definitely a scene-stealer. Thank you for sharing and take good care of yourself. :)
