I’ll tell you the Chad News First
Sharing another photo from my wet weekend in December. My goal is to never share a photo twice and always use a new photo for my newsletters, yet I never take enough pictures to keep up with my projects.
Last Wednesday, I got up at 2 a.m. and got a few hours of work done before going to my job, which then proceeded to beat the piss out of me. I think people are drawn to my weakness. Last night, I worked until about 11:30 and went to bed. Got up just before 4 in the morning. That’s worked out better for me so far.
People leave me alone when they can’t see signs of fear or fatigue in me.
The great Substack migration is still underway. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to leave here completely, but hopefully I’ll be posting non-pop culture articles on Ghost before the month is over. More coming.
Stone Soup Poetry
Thanks to Margaret Young for an amazing Stone Soup reading last week. Read the latest Stone Soup Crouton, “Life Gives You Resting Maelstrom Face.”
Jamilla VanDyke-Bailey is featuring tonight. Catch her performance and buy her new collection the womxn from Finishing Line Press.
Come back next week for Stone Soup's First (and possibly only) Open Mic Gathering of Lonely Bastards.
This Thursday: Toni Bee, Penny Callan Partridge and Tom Laughlin at the Menino Arts Center
Don’t usually post about other readings, but this is a great series and I want to support Toni and friends. It’s from 7-9 PM. Starts with an open mic. Click here for more information.
Oddball Magazine
Click here to read poetry by Connie Johnson, Tobias Seim and Ron Riekki. Nice artwork by Claudio Parentela and photography by Edward S. Gault. Oh, and I contributed a photo this week.
Kudos to poet Steven David Justin Sills and artist Sketchman Boris for their work inspired by the Ukraine crisis. Apologies to comics contributor Dusty McGowan, whose Comics Spotlight publication missed it’s deadline and went unnoticed until this week. You can read it here. Props also to our regular cartoonists Geoffrey Fallon (“The Secrets of Skinny People”) and Anne Skove (“She Who Laughs Lasts”).
Jason Wright started off our poet columnist parade as always with his Jagged Thought. Tomorrow is James Van Looy with It’s All One Thing and Friday gives us Janet Cormier’s Bamboozled No More And Wise Words with Bruce Wise. I won’t promise a surprise this week because for at least a month I have promised a surprise and have been unable to deliver. I will simply try to provide a surprise. No pressure.
